Tu B'Av: A Jewish Day of Love

Tu B'Av a minor holiday in the Jewish calendar is one of those celebrations finding new meaning in our modern era. It especially has made quite the comeback in Israel. Tu B'Av was begun in the second Temple period to commemorate the beginning of the grape harvest. It is also associated with a full moon which symbolizes love, fertility and romance.Young unmarried women would dress in white and dance during the festival to attract a husband. In many ways things have not changed in over 3,000 years. And you thought Valentine's Day was unique. Hah...

Here are some rather pleasant and bitter-sweet songs dedicated to love, romance and to that all important special person in your life.

Of course there is the ultimate expression of romantic love....

The truth is that when you are with the person in the world that truly loves you and you love them back, nothing should keep you from feeling as if you are flying....

Until next time,

Elise
